After many months of speculation, the Park Street Complex makes their final "last call" early Sunday morning December 3. The long discussed sale of the property has been completed and the property will be developed as a new Marriott hotel as you can see from the rendering below.

PLF and Park Street Complex had great chemistry.

new Marriott Hotel on Park Street in ColumbusThe Park Street Complex is very near and dear to the Parker Lee Foundation's heart as it played host to all four of our PBR10K events.

During the summer in 2013, PLF had a great deal of momentum coming off our most successful PBR event yet, the PBR5K at the Three-Legged Mare.  We had done the unthinkable at the time, donated $10,000 to the Short Stop Youth Center as a result of our February day of beer drinking.

At this point, a great decision existed for PLF: make the logical next step and proceed to the PBR6K or go crazy and make the jump to a PBR10K.  Regardless of the choice, a larger venue was needed.

Cheers to Superior Beverage

With the help of our friends at Superior Beverage, an introduction was made to Ed Hastie and Jimmy Woodland, who both were part of the group which purchased Park Street Complex earlier in 2013. The concept of the PBR10K was discussed and warmly embraced by the bar owners and we off and running to our first PBR10K.

Moving to Park Street, we could have bands, more sponsors, a huge VIP room, more than double the size of the event and most importantly potentially raise more money due to the increased size of the venue.

Mic Wesson with Pabst Blue Ribbon, organized a story of the 10K in 614 Magazine which led to the first and only PLF photo shoot. Ads for the event ran on CD102.5. This shindig was going to blow up! And it did.

Appropriately the Ryan Pope Band kicked off the festivities. which saw approximately 1,000 ticket purchasers attend the event. $15,000 was donated to Directions For Youth and Families from the proceeds of the PBR10K'14.

$90,000 and 40,000 cans of PBR!

In the four years at the Park Street Complex, nearly $90,000 was donated to local charities, we entertained over 4,500 people and enjoyed more than 40,000 cans of ice cold PBR.

Needless to say we're sad to see the Complex close as many great memories were made during our run. Ed, Jimmy and their staff were outstanding with their hospitality and support. As a result the PBR10K grew and became more polished each year.

A great new chapter for Parker Lee Foundation's PBR10K event begins on February 24, 2018 at Pins Mechanical Co. See you there.
